Our Mission
The secondary golf equipment market moves billions of dollars each year, yet pricing remains opaque. Sellers overprice, buyers overpay, and everyone relies on gut feeling. We believe data should replace guesswork. Club Market Index aggregates completed sale prices, tracks trends over time, and provides the analytics golfers need to make informed buying and selling decisions.
Methodology
Data Collection
We collect completed (sold) listings from major online marketplaces including eBay. Only verified completed sales are included — listed prices and unsold items are excluded to ensure accuracy. Our automated scraping pipeline runs multiple times daily.
Title Parsing & Matching
Each listing title is parsed using a proprietary NLP engine that extracts brand, model family, variant, club type, loft, shaft flex, handedness, and condition. Parsed listings are then matched to our database of tracked models using a weighted fuzzy-matching algorithm with confidence scoring.
Price Validation
Outlier prices are flagged and excluded. Sales outside a reasonable range (too cheap or too expensive compared to the model's historical average) are filtered to prevent skewed averages. All prices are normalized to USD.
Market Index Calculation
The Club Market Index is calculated weekly using a weighted average of price performance across all tracked models, relative to a baseline value of 1000. An index above 1000 indicates prices have risen on average; below 1000 indicates a decline.
